It seems every time I turn around there is another dreaded email announcing  back orders.  In the beginning of the pandemic the joke was about being told multiple times your furniture has been back ordered but in reality it is NO JOKE! We laughed about it at first when the thought of people needing more than we could get our hands on but it’s real, folks.

The good news is, I have been accused of hoarding stock!  I have been accused of filling our buildings to the rafters in anticipation of shortages.  I predicted a year ago we’d see exactly what is unfolding right now!  If you don’t believe me, you have been as asleep as a bear in their winter hibernation.

I send the sales department a weekly list of things in stock and it is growing. I’ve been fortunate enough to get insider information from our suppliers who let me know what’s coming in and I grab it.  In anticipation of additional shortages and delays I have added more North American products and it has been met with enthusiasm!

The other challenge is the pricing of products.  Manufacturers face the additional challenges including, labor shortages, shipping delays, and raw material shortages to name a few.  Every single component involved has faced unprecedented challenge.

This past week the news media covered multiple shipping ports with unimaginable images of cargo ships awaiting unloading as far as the eye can see.  We have been privy to this for some time and been told to prepare for lengthy delays.  When a customer calls for an update they may be shocked to hear what we tell them but we are very transparent.  We base our success on being honest and there is no reason we should go any other direction than that.

Lets recap what the last 19 months has looked like:  A pandemic of epic proportions, mandatory government shut down, a stuck ship in the Suez Canal (backing up an already backed up ship channel), there’s the Texas freeze we lived through, then another round of Covid, countries shutting down which are vital to our global economy, to name a few.  Is it over yet?

No, it’s not.  It’s far from over.

Right now it’s about choices.  Do we need or just want?  With the growth in our Central Texas region, folks are moving in and buying homes in record numbers.  Every single one of them needs furnishing and we are committed to helping as many folks as possible get the beautiful real wood furnishings we have provided for nearly 45 years.

Please let us know how we can help!
